Optimistic outlook for recruitment sector across UK

There is a generally optimistic outlook for the recruitment sector nationally, with recruiters in the North East of England in the best position for recovery out of the recession.
That is the verdict of a study of 1000 UK accountants, commissioned by independent Invoice and Asset Based Lender Venture Finance, to look at how the recruitment sector is faring across the UK's different regions.
The accountants were asked to rate the extent to which their recruitment clients were under financial pressure, during the current economic conditions, using a scale of one for the most financial pressure and five for the least. Recruiters in the North East scored an average of 3.26, Scotland came second with 2.75 and Wales third with 2.68.
The overall outlook for the sector, however, was positive with an average figure of 2.63.
Peter Ewen, Managing Director, Venture Finance said: "Recruiters have certainly been at the sharp end, working to place a surplus of talent in a contracting market. However, there are cautious signs that the jobs market is picking up, and it is important to remember that there is life after a recession."
