CNC Setter / Operator

CNC Machine Setter | Southend on- Sea | up £35,000 | Mon to Thurs 6:45am – 4:30pm

One to One Personnel have an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Machine Setter/ Operator who is looking for some work-life-balance with a four-day working week.

Based in Southend Essex, you will be joining a well-established engineering business of over employing a friendly and supportive team, offering a rare opportunity to develop new skills to enhance your level of experience and expertise.

Duties will include:

  • Set and Run 1st Operations machinery safely - CNC machines including fixed head, sliding head, Lathes, turning mills and Bar feeders (including Dooson, Hardinge, Mori and Star)
  • Support as required, with set and run 2nd Operations machinery safely – thread rollers, grinding, part markers, drill banks, depitching presses, torque testers and deburrers (manual/rotary etc).
  • Work confidently with material from Aluminium, stainless steels and Inconel.
  • Coordination of all programming and setting activities, coordinating with other existing setters.
  • Carry out first-off and job run inspection of 2nd Op Machine parts
  • Adhere to all documented health and safety, with correct PPE used to perform role.
  • Ensure all clockings and production records are completed accurately, and that the movement of work is recorded on the company computerised system (EFACS).
  • Carry out first-off buddy checks and job run inspection of 1st and 2nd Operations machine parts.
  • Reduce scrap/rework reporting back efficiencies to the Production Manager.
  • Maintain machine efficiency to ensure we comply with On Time Deliveries, Arrears, Parts Per Hour (PPH) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Manufacture good quality products in line with agreed standards and quality procedures.
  • Complete daily maintenance check sheets and cycle timesheets.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment is maintained at all times.
  • Willing to train junior operators to develop skills, when necessary.

Core Skills/Attributes Needed

  • Aerospace engineering background, minimum 2 years’ experience.
  • Run, Set 1st and 2nd Ops machining tools, with some programming experience.
  • Experience with bar feed machines
  • Set and Run Machines with Fanuc and Seiki controls.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong measurement skills using varied tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of frontline maintenance activities including practical ability to undertake tasks.
  • Close coordination with Production manager and setters to recommend and improve efficiency.
  • Team Player and communicate with colleagues to ensure the implementation of the company’s policies and goals
  • Attention to detail, including numeracy, and quality performance.
  • Flexible and pro-active attitude
  • Service minded and continuous enhancement of product/service knowledge.
