Our client is a fast-growing, award-winning firm of Chartered Accountants, recognised for delivering exceptional accounting and strategic advisory services. As they enter an exciting new phase of expansion, they are looking to appoint a proactive and ambitious Semi Senior Accountant to join their high-performing team based in Woodford Green.
You must have a minimum of 2–3 years’ UK-based accountancy practice experience, without this, you will not be considered.
Skills and Attributes Required:
- Part-qualified to fully qualified ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualification
- Strong technical accounting knowledge across all core areas
- Clear communicator with strong client management skills
- Good commercial awareness and ability to interpret financial information
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Key Responsibilities:
Client Portfolio Management & Communication
- Act as the primary contact for a varied and complex client portfolio and manage workflow to meet deadlines
- Respond clearly to client queries within 24 hours or escalate where appropriate
- Conduct client meetings and accountability calls, prepare agendas and produce accurate recap notes
Compliance & Technical Work
- Prepare statutory accounts with correct treatment of CIS, deferred tax, loans, asset additions/disposals (including properties) and rental income
- Produce accurate management accounts with meaningful commentary
- Prepare personal tax returns (salaries, dividends, property income)
- Understand payments on account and all elements of self-assessment statements
- Prepare PTB journals suitable for posting to client systems
- Apply correct accounting treatment for R&D claims and assist with CT600 presentation
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic liquidation principles
Reviewing & Quality Assurance
- Self-review work using internal checklists to minimise errors and review points
- Review accounts for accuracy and material correctness
- Provide constructive feedback when reviewing work completed by junior staff
Advisory & Forecasting
- Identify advisory opportunities and support colleagues in delivering added value services
- Prepare financial forecasts, explain key drivers and support basic “what if” analysis
Team Support & Processes
- Assist colleagues with software and technical accounting queries
- Keep practice management systems accurate and up to date
- Contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative team environment
