Commercial Manager
Permanent | Full Time | Mon-Fri | Kent | £40,000 - £45,000 PA
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to drive business growth, lead tender activity and support commercial strategy. Working closely with senior leadership, the role will identify new opportunities, improve performance and help deliver sustainable growth and service quality.
Role Overview:
- Lead commercial strategy, business growth and tender activity.
- Drive sustainable growth, contract performance and financial resilience.
- Work closely with senior leadership, operations and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end tender and bid processes, from opportunity assessment to submission.
- Produce high-quality, evidence-based bid responses.
- Coordinate internal teams to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
- Maintain a register, tracking renewals, deadlines and opportunities.
- Develop and manage a business development pipeline across local organisations.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends and partnership opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with commissioners, partners and key stakeholders.
- Support senior leadership with commercial strategy and business growth.
- Develop KPI dashboards and performance reports for senior leadership and Board.
- Analyse service performance, demand, costs, trends and operational efficiency.
- Provide commercial insight to support decision-making and contract negotiations.
- Oversee quality assurance, including complaints, feedback and comments
- Identify trends and root causes and drive service improvement.
- Work with operational teams to improve processes and reduce costs.
- Support compliance, governance and person-centred service standards.
- Lead sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact across procurement, buildings, travel and operations.
- Embed sustainability and social value into tender submissions and business strategy.
Key Requirements:
- Senior-level experience working with SLT/Executive teams.
- Experience in community, health, social care or voluntary sector services.
- Proven bid writing, tendering, procurement or contract management experience.
- Understanding of local authority commissioning and market dynamics.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
