Electronics Repair Technician – Medical Devices

Are you an experienced Electronics Repair Technician with at least 3 years' UK-based industry experience in component-level electronics repair? We're looking for a skilled engineer to join a specialist medical device repair team, working on high-value diagnostic imaging equipment including MRI systems, ultrasound probes, CT/X-ray equipment, RF power amplifiers and complex electronic assemblies.

This is an excellent opportunity to apply your fault-finding expertise in a technically challenging environment where no two repairs are the same.

To be considered for this role you must have at least 3 years UK based industry experience, HNC/HND in Electronics/Electrical engineering.

Role Description

This role supports the repair, maintenance and testing of a wide range of complex medical and electronic devices, including:

  • MRI systems and RF coils
  • Ultrasound probes and systems
  • CT and X-ray systems
  • Power supply units (PSUs) and RF power amplifiers (RFPAs)
  • Electronic assemblies and PCB-based devices

Engineers will operate within an electronics laboratory environment, performing component level diagnostics and repair, reverse engineering, and development of repair methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, fault-find, and repair electronic and medical devices to component level
  • Perform testing, calibration, and quality assurance activities
  • Follow manufacturer procedures, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Perform reverse engineering where schematics are unavailable
  • Source components, parts, and repair information
  • Maintain accurate documentation, repair records, and reports
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements, and health & safety policies, carry out repair risk assessments
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and customer-facing teams
  • Develop and document new repair procedures and processes
  • Meet daily production targets and prioritise work based on business needs
  • Support complex diagnostics across RF, analogue, and digital systems
  • Lead Major Healthcare Transformation Projects Across the UK

Technical Scope

Engineers may work across:

  • RF systems and coils
  • PCBAs (SMT & through-hole)
  • Analogue and digital electronics
  • Power electronics and amplifiers
  • Diagnostic imaging technologies

Including use of:

  • Oscilloscopes
  • Multimeters
  • Signal generators
  • Power supplies

Must Have Skills

  • Qualification in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND, Degree, Military training)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • High attention to detail and quality focus
  • Proactive, inquisitive Mindset

Must Have Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in electronic or medical device repair
  • Experience in electronics repair and fault finding
  • Ability to use test equipment and follow schematics
  • Experience working on PCB/component-level repairs
  • Experience in RF systems, MRI coils, or imaging equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and reverse engineering capability
  • Ability to work independently and lead complex repairs

Nice To Have Experience

  • Mechanical workshop experience
  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
  • Experience with regulatory environments (medical de-vices)
