Learning SEND Support Coach

Learning SEND Support Coach | Chelmsford | Temporary Ongoing | £14.00 per hour 

Purpose of the Role

Are you passionate about making a real difference to individuals with SEND? This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them build confidence, develop independence and achieve their personal and academic goals.

You’ll provide one-to-one and group support, promote inclusion and wellbeing, and work closely with staff to ensure individuals receive the right support to thrive. Previous SEND experience and an up-to-date DBS are essential, with an ideal start date of W/C 4th September.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

SEND Coaching & Learner Support

  • Take a coaching approach to developing learners’ independence and confidence.
  • Support learners to improve their communication skills and ability to make appropriate personal choices and decisions.
  • Help learners prepare for adult life and develop practical life skills.
  • Provide individual and small-group support both within the classroom and in other settings.
  • Provide SEND-related advice, guidance and practical strategies to staff across a range of settings.
  • Ensure learners have appropriate opportunities to work towards the outcomes identified in their EHCPs.
  • Provide support with individual mobility and access to the facilities, including:
    • 1:1 support.
    • Personal care.
    • Moving and handling.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of SEND across the business.
  • Contribute to staff training and development relating to the needs of learners with SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum and business support teams to promote effective inclusion.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of people’s progress.
  • Support the tracking and monitoring of individuals.
  • Provide general administrative support relating to people with SEND needs.
  • Read and respond appropriately to emails and other company communications on a daily basis.

General Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the achievement of the company’s strategic objectives, as appropriate.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Follow Health and Safety at Work requirements and ensure relevant safety legislation and Codes of Practice are adhered to.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting Equality and Diversity.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional development.
  • Attend Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities as required.
  • Participate in and promote staff development and appraisal processes.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, grade and level of responsibility, either at the current place of work or at other establishments where the company provides services.
