Our client is the leading service provider of Managed Equipment Services (MES) for the NHS and the private health sector in the UK. They are currently looking for a Specialist Anaesthesia and Ventilator Engineer to join their team based in the South East and London area.

To be considered for this role you must be certified in OEM trainings of Anaesthesia and Ventilators, have 5 to 7 years previous UK experience working within a biomedical setting dealing preferably with Anaesthesia and Ventilator, patient monitoring, diathermies (electro-surgery units), theatre tables, defibrillators, infusion and volumetric devices equipment.

Responsibilities

  • To develop and support an in-house skillset to manage specialist equipment, namely (but not restricted to) Anaesthesia and Ventilator equipment
  • To train if needed for first line support and mentor if required/needed identified site and field-based engineers to enable daily on-site repair, preventative maintenance and asset management of specialist medical devices within hospital locations
  • To travel as required and develop relationships with customer representatives in this specialist area, promoting confidence and competence in the management of these technologies
  • Perform actual servicing and repairs as needed. To develop and foster relationships with specialist medical device OEMs to both manage external service contracts as well as enhance our ability to service these devices in-house with parts, training and interventions as required
  • To work with and support operational leaders and managers in achieving contract KPIs
  • To complete all associated administrative work in completing repairs and preventative maintenance as outlined in procedures
  • To work within the Quality Assurance and Environmental, Health & Safety policies
  • To support customers whenever needed to ensure minimal disruption to the operation of the hospital
  • To build long-term relationships with customers, subcontractors, and staff to ensure responsiveness and support to customers

Key Accountabilities

  • To ensure identified specialist equipment is maintained in house where possible, or externally, negotiating and managing the appropriate external service contracts
  • To develop and foster the required skills in designated site or field-based engineering staff through on the job training and organizing external training as needed
  • To provide the required support in the service and management of identified specialist equipment to all areas of our business (Operations, Sales, Procurement, etc.…) both in the UK and across the Group
  • To ensure our service meets customer satisfaction and exceeds contract KPIs
  • To coordinate and schedule training sessions, both on the job and formal, in line with priorities based on PM schedules and external contract expiration dates
  • Work closely with Operation Leaders and Service Managers to ensure specialist equipment workload is anticipated and access is scheduled, out of hours if needed, so that customers are aware and can adjust for our access and so they can allocate their team members to optimize opportunities for on the job training
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on medical equipment as per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Complete repairs as required on medical equipment as per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Complete associated admin needed to close repairs and PMs as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Travel to various sites as required to train staff, perform Corrective Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance
  • Maintain safe working practices within the hospital environment
  • Comply with the Quality Assurance and Environmental, Health & Safety policies, and work to maintain a high standard of customer service and protect your health and safety as well as that of your colleagues, our customers and members of the public. Promptly raise any concerns regarding potential violations of the policies
  • Coordinate with site and field-based engineers to ensure they maintain adequate spare part stock wherever necessary
  • Support Site/Team Leaders, Operational/Regional Leaders and Service Managers on specialist equipment issues as needed

Additional Duties

  • Maintaining service documentation in line with business requirements
  • Responsible for escalating and defining necessary resources required to maintain specialized equipment
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers for spare part and contract quotations as needed
  • Ensure data integrity within management systems
  • Responsible for delivering customer satisfaction
  • Deal with OEM service staff and management when required
  • Maintain tools and test equipment in line with Standards
  • Attend meetings when required
  • Seek opportunities to grow business
  • Review ways to improve productivity and reduce operating expenditure
  • To work within set budgets as discussed and agreed from time to time
  • To prepare business activity reports, and operational reports as and when necessary, to be agreed
  • To read and comply with all company policies, which may be changed from time to time with notice

Qualifications

  • Certified OEM trainings of Anaesthesia and ventilators - Essential
  • Qualification in Engineering, electronics or medical technologies such as biomedical engineering – Desirable

Essential Skills and Experience

  • 5-7 years in UK biomedical setting
  • Preferably Anaesthesia and Ventilator, patient monitoring, diathermies
  • (electro-surgery units), theatre tables, defibrillators, infusion and volumetric devices equipment etc
  • Familiarity with appropriate national and local regulatory standards
  • Has worked in clinical areas and involving patient communication
