Structural Engineer
Full Time | Up to £100,000 to £120,000 + Hybrid | Permanent | Southend
We are launching a new structural engineering division within a fast growing, design-led property and architecture group.
You will work directly with architects, clients, and contractors on live residential, commercial and mixed-use projects from day one.
The Opportunity:
- Build a structural engineering function from scratch
- Shape technical standards, workflows and delivery approach
- Work closely with an established architectural practice with immediate project pipeline
- Progress into a future leadership role (Head of Structural Engineering)
- Influence pricing, service offering and team growth
What You Will Do:
- Lead structural design from concept through to construction
- Produce calculations, drawings and specifications
- Work closely with architects on integrated, buildable design solutions
- Manage multiple live projects simultaneously
- Liaise with contractors, consultants and clients
- Help define systems and quality standards for the new division
- Support early-stage business development as the service grows
Essential Skills:
- Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or CEng) or near chartership with clear timeline
- A minimum of 4 years UK based experience as a Structural Engineer
- UK project experience in residential and commercial sectors
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations and standards
- Confident working independently in a fast-moving environment
- Strong communication skills with architects, contractors and clients
Desirable:
- Experience in design-led or multidisciplinary practices
- Residential extensions, conversions, or mixed-use project exposure
- Track record of delivering projects end-to-end
- Ambition to move into leadership
